Refund & Cancellation Policy

This Refund & Cancellation Policy ("Policy") explains how refunds, cancellations, and service discontinuations are handled across Asset Light Ventures and its group entities, including LawCrust, Solvencis, Zrooth, LawCrust Realty, Foundation, and Gensact. Because we offer a mix of subscription products, per-session consultations, project-based mandates, and digital downloads, refund terms vary by product type. Please read the relevant section carefully.

01 · General Principles

Asset Light Ventures is committed to delivering value at every engagement. Our refund approach is guided by three principles:

  • Fairness. If we fail to deliver a service as agreed, you are entitled to a fair resolution, refund, re-delivery, or credit.
  • Transparency. Refund eligibility and timelines are disclosed upfront, before you make any payment.
  • Promptness. Eligible refunds are processed within defined SLAs and you will receive written confirmation at every step.

This Policy applies to all direct payments made to ALV or its group entities through the website, via invoice, or through any official channel.

02 · Refund Eligibility by Product Type

Our refund terms are product-specific. The cards below summarise eligibility windows; the full text follows.

Legal Protect & Subscriptions

Annual subscription products (Legal Protect Individual / Business, Zrooth Pro, C-Suite Programme, Institute plans). Full refund if cancelled within 7 days of purchase and no services have been consumed. Pro-rata refund available in specific circumstances.

Consultations (Per-Session)

Individual consultations, in-office advisory, document drafting. Full refund if cancelled 24 hours before the scheduled session. Within 24 hours or after delivery, no refund, but re-scheduling allowed once.

Advisory Mandates & Projects

M&A advisory, private placement, corporate finance, PMC mandates, custom development. Governed by the separate mandate agreement signed at engagement start. Refunds follow the specific milestone and retainer terms documented there.

Industry Playbooks, research reports, white papers, and other digital assets. Due to the nature of digital delivery, these are non-refundable once downloaded, except in case of corrupt or unreadable files, in which case a replacement will be provided.

NRI legal, property management, OC consulting, redevelopment PMC. Full refund of upfront onboarding fees if cancelled before work commences. Once work begins, refunds are pro-rata based on deliverables completed.

Cohorts, Events & Workshops

Foundation paid cohorts, legal awareness workshops, IBW programmes. Full refund if cancelled 7 days before the start date. Between 7 days and start date, 50% refund. After commencement, no refund.

03 · Legal Protect Subscriptions, Detailed Terms

Legal Protect Individual Plan (Annual Subscription) and Legal Protect Business Subscription (Annual Subscription):

  • Full refund is available within 7 days of initial purchase, provided no consultations, document reviews, or advisory services have been consumed under the plan.
  • After 7 days or once services have been consumed, the subscription becomes non-refundable but remains active for the full annual term.
  • Auto-renewal can be disabled at any time before the renewal date by writing to support@theassetlight.com. Once renewal has been charged, the 7-day refund window restarts.
  • In exceptional circumstances (extended service unavailability, failure to deliver core features), a pro-rata refund for unused months may be granted at ALV's discretion.

04 · Consultation Cancellation Terms

For individual consultations (phone/video at ₹1,500, in-office at ₹5,000):

  • More than 24 hours before the scheduled time: Full refund or free re-scheduling.
  • Less than 24 hours before: One free re-scheduling allowed; refunds not available.
  • No-show without notice: Consultation fee is forfeited.
  • Cancelled by us: If ALV cancels a consultation for any reason, you will receive a full refund or a priority re-scheduled slot, at your preference.

05 · Advisory Mandates & Professional Engagements

For M&A advisory (Solvencis, Ventures), private placement, corporate finance, insolvency advisory, valuation, and all other professional mandates, refund terms are governed by the written mandate letter signed at the start of the engagement. Typical structures include:

  • Retainer fees (paid upfront), non-refundable once work commences, except in the case of proven non-performance.
  • Milestone fees, refundable up to the next unreached milestone if the engagement is terminated by mutual agreement or due to ALV non-performance.
  • Success fees, payable only upon successful closure of the transaction; no success fee is payable if the mandate is terminated before closure.

Please refer to your specific mandate letter for exact terms. In the absence of a mandate letter, the default rule is that fees paid for services rendered are non-refundable.

06 · How to Request a Refund

Approved refunds reach your account within 7–14 business days of confirmation

All refund requests must be submitted in writing. Phone or verbal cancellation requests will not be processed.

07 · Refund Method & Timeline

Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method used at the time of purchase:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: 7–10 business days after approval.
  • UPI: 3–5 business days after approval.
  • Net Banking / NEFT / RTGS: 5–7 business days after approval.
  • International payments: 10–15 business days, depending on the receiving bank and currency conversion.

Refunds are processed in the original currency of payment. Any currency conversion losses, bank charges, or third-party payment gateway fees are borne by the customer.

08 · Non-Refundable Items

The following are NOT eligible for refund under any circumstances: (a) Digital downloads once accessed or downloaded; (b) Completed consultations or services already delivered; (c) Success fees earned on closed transactions; (d) Custom research, bespoke content, or personalised deliverables; (e) Third-party fees (SEBI filing, legal court fees, registration charges) passed through to you; (f) Payment gateway or bank charges already incurred on the original transaction.

09 · Cancellation by Asset Light Ventures

ALV reserves the right to cancel, refuse, or discontinue any service in circumstances including but not limited to:

  • Non-payment or payment failure.
  • Breach of these terms, our Terms & Conditions, or Acceptable Use policies.
  • Suspicious, fraudulent, or abusive activity.
  • Legal, regulatory, or compliance reasons.
  • Conflict of interest or ethical concerns.

In such cases, ALV will refund any unused pre-paid amounts on a pro-rata basis, subject to applicable deductions and any outstanding liabilities.

10 · Disputes & Escalation

If your refund request is denied and you wish to dispute the decision, please escalate via email to grievance@theassetlight.com. Our Grievance Officer will review the escalation and respond within 7 business days with a final decision.

If the issue remains unresolved, you may approach the appropriate consumer forum or dispute resolution authority under Indian law.

11 · Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from refund requests, cancellations, or related matters shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

12 · Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or operational practices. The latest version is always available on this page, with the "last updated" date at the top. Changes apply prospectively and do not affect refund eligibility for transactions made before the update.
